Jodhpur
Jodhpur was once the capital of a kingdom, and features many temples, palaces and forts. It is located in the Thar Desert, and celebrates its sunny and upbeat weather all year round. Rightfully named the “Sun City,” Jodhpur’s bright and colorful surroundings bring out the liveliness in all who set their eyes upon it.
The warm climate mixed with the warm feelings received when taking in the tasteful, stylish indigo houses (earning Jodhpur its second nickname, “Blue City”) is nothing short of miraculous.
You’ll feel yourself become revived by simply exploring its old history, intertwined without its vast expanse. Jodhpur’s genuine and aged atmosphere is captured throughout it, and even more so by the thick, stone wall representing pride in its age.
Jodhpur is dedicated to flaunting its deep-seeded roots, with a number of historical monuments placed all over the region. The Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the most recent palaces built, and also one of the most extraordinary. It is an art deco piece with a new, unheard of flair: it was built as an extremely high-end palace, with over one million square feet of marble used in construction – so that the building could be used as an employment project and public relief house!
This generous and glorious monument is one of many, and attracts such a high amount of people worldwide due to its gracious concept directed to those in need. It contains charming courtyards, exquisite balconies and proves to be a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, with a total of 347 rooms. It is now a museum and hotel, after successfully completing its goal of employing three thousand people over fifteen years.
Reenergize and uplift your spirits with this splash of bright electricity that Jodhpur has to offer!
